WELLINGTON, April 15 A record of a severe earthquake was obtained in Wellington at 4.1 a.m. to-day by Mr Adams, Government, Seisdmologist, who' pronounced it to: have been of considerable magnitude, located at 30 degrees west from New Zealand. This was confirmed by cable fronj Samoa. In all probability it is in the vicinity of the Solomon Islands. Mr Adams* said the record of the quake was of. an intensity approaching that of the Japanese outbreak-of last year. He hoped the vicinity whore the quake occurred was not occupied.
