Mr Jellie said when in Canterbury he made inquiries in reference to the red poll dairy breeds, and. iound they would bo most unsatisfactory on the Coast. Cattle which would be able to fossick in the bush, and would serve a dual purpose were the best. lied polls might be alright elsewhere, but he did not think that they would suit the Coast.

It was decided, (as no Southern delegate was present) to leave the Hari 1 lari remit, which stated that the branch- was in favour of an active propaganda being sot on foot to combat the activities of proprietary dairy companies on the West Coast, be let stand over until next meeting.

It was resolved to support the Hari Hari remit that the tyre tax lie supported. The Meat Control Board was brought up for discussion, but it was resolved that owing to lack of information as 'to the Board’s activities, that no opinion he expressed at present. A Wataroa-Waiho Branch remit asked that trains carrying stock from Ross to Addington be run in accordance with the time-table; also that the manner of shunting be improved, so as to eliminate the rough handling now apparent. It was decided that the Railway Department he ljequesfed that more care be exercised in shunting the cattle. A suggestion that the Department

be asked to allow cattle to he transported on the overland train to Christ church was opposed as unreasonable. The Wataroa-Waiho Branch asked that representations be made to the Public Works Department and the County Councils concerned that all the sharp bends on the roads he hanked up on the outside, to provide for the safety of motors or other vehicles when negotiating bends. There were many sharp bends sloping from the centre of a dangerous nature. It was decided that the representations be made to the Public At orks Department and the County Councils.
