SENIORS. KIWIS 6 Vi KOKATAHI 0. The first game in the Sub-Union competition took place on Cass Square at 3 o’clock' on Saturday afternoon between Kokatahi and Kiwis and resulted in a win for the home team by 6 to 0, a try and a penalty goal. At the start of the spell Kokatahi had the better of it. The Kiwis then began to gain the ascendancy, vlicit Hagar and Leslie broke through, looking dangerous, but Fleming brought off a nice save by marking. Shortly after the Kiwis were pressing Kokatahi when they were awarded a penalty near the goal apd Halliday converted. The Kiwi backs tried to get goiiig on several occasions but always handled badly.
The. second spoil opened with the Kiwis still having the better of it, Kokatahi being rtoticably Winded. About fifteen minutes after the Kiwi backs got gonig alid the ball finally getting to Steel be made a dash for it from near the halfway peg, niul crossed the line. Kick at goal missed. Kokatahi then livened up a bit, but to no avail as the Kiwis held them in check, although Kokatahi had several chances to score, bad management and bad handling lost them. When those two teams meet again there should be a very interesting game as Kokatahi will then be in better form and their forwards ought to give a better account of themselves. IfARI HART 3, EXCELSIOR 0. The Excelsiors journeyed to Harihari on Saturday and after a very even and interesting game, which was considered the best opening gnine witnessed at Harihari, ithe southerners proved the victors by three. Harihari scored in the opening stages, and although the Excelsiors were pushing tilings in the last fifteen minutes of the game the Harihari defence proved too strong.
JUNIORS. KIWIS 23, KOKATAHI 0. The above game took place on the Square at 1.30 p.m. and resulted in a walk-over for the Kiwis, Kokatahi being weak in all departments of the game. EXCELSIORS 18 HARIHARI 0. The Excelsior Juniors who journeyed with the Seniors to Harihari proved victorious by 18 to nil. A RAH UR A 11. HI MU 3. The above match was played at A rah ilia and after a very ragged game Arabian won by 1 1 to 3. . ROSS H, RUATAPU 0. The Ross-Ruatapu match was played at Ross on Saturday and resulted in a win for the home team by 14 to 0. THIRD GRADE. Excelsior A 24, Kiwi A 0. Excelsior B 23, Kiwi B 0.
