WELLINGTON, April 13 At a meeting of the Wellintgon Engineer’s Union Management -Committee the following resolution was passed.— “That this committee approves the action of the A.S.R.S. in resisting any extension of the hours of work, and bones that the A.S.R.S. will be successful iu defeating the proposal of the Govern uncut to extend the hours. It was also agreed that it be a iveommeiidation to the Management Committee of the Union that the Union lend all the moral support possible to the A.S.R.S.” WELLINGTON, April 13. In connection with the re-classifica-tion list,, the Post and Telegraph Executive have received a communication from lion . G. Coates, Postmas-ter-General, to tile effect that the Cabinet bad not yet met to consider the salary schedule, but would meet early next week. Tlie Minister also stated that the
previous arrangements as to submitting tlie salary list to the Executive of the 1\ and T. Association would stand. Mr 11. Coombs (Secretary of the and T. Association) wlm furnished the above information to the Press, said Fit it was understood that the Cabinet would meet either on .Holiday or Tuesday to discuss this and other matters. WELLINGTON. April 13 When informed of the comment of the Clmirman of the North Canterbury Section of the P. am! T. Association, i'ognrding a strike ballot. Mr ( oombs (Secretary of the Association) said: "There has evidently been a misapprehension as to the true position, which is that the Wellington Branch of the P. and T. Association have recommended a strike ballot. This recommendation is now before ■the Executive which has been sitting :iii Wellington for the past week. The Executive is a body Which will decidtwhclher the request of the Wellington Branch shall tie acceded to or not.” .Mr Coombs added. “All Brunches will be advised as to what the next step is going to be. BIG BENZINE FIRE. CARTERTON, April 12. A motor lorry laden with 153 cases of bon one eu route from Wellington to Cartcrrou, caught lire near Greytowu Cemetery.
