LATE LOCALS.
The weather on Wednesday afternoon proved very wet and inclement for the gala on Cass Square in aid of the Beautifying Association and as a result was robbed of much of its success. There was only a small attendance of enthusiasts. The cycling events wore run off and the ladies in charge of the produce, fruit stalls, and afternoon tea rooms, made the most of their opportunities, in spite of the inclement conditions. The receipts, however, failed badly as a result of the wet afternoon, and the funds of the Society did not receive that substantial fillip that was hoped for.
