' The steel plant and works at l.ithgow Ironworks are idle, as the result of the dismissal of two men for refusing extra work on the furnaces on Sunday, the Union contending that Sunday work is a violation of the award. The matter of Sunday overtime has been in dispute for some time, and as the full strength of the Union is behind the strikers, the trouble threatens to render the whole works idle.

QUEENSLAND POLITICS. BRISBANE April 10. The unity of tho anti-Labour parties in Queensland Parliament has been achieved at a joint meeting of the l ailed Patty and Country Parly. The following were elected to represent the joint Opposition—Leader, Air Alocue ; Deputy Leader, Air King; Whip, Air Cursor. Every member oi tho Pai Ly was accounted for except one, who is absent- from Australia but represented by a proxy. YACHT WRECK. BRISBANE, April 10. A body and wreckage from a yacht was discovered on the beach at Humpy Island. It is believed the Yacht was struck by lightning during the storm on Wednesday night. Among the wreckako was the lid of a trunk bearing the name “O'Neill, Auckland New Zealand.” The owner of the vessel was evidently interested in photography as a number of unused films acre louini.

DAIRY PRODUCERS CONFER. MELBOURNE, April 10. A conference of rep re.se nU-tivo.s <•/ dairy fanners, from every State in U:e Commonwealth, was held for tlie puipose ol deciding on a scheme lot the stabilisation of prices of dairy produce. The proposal adopted provides for the creation of a Federal Board to control inter-Stute and Overseas marketing, to be composed of representatives of all the States. Proposals for the creation of Boards in each State to control inter-Stute marketing or altei natively for a delegation by each State of the Powers to the Federal Board are provided in the scheme.
