Last week a prisoner in the Montana penitentiary named Johnny Reid told the gaoler that he-wished to reform _ and could assist in the recovery of the bonds, lie declared that he was a member of the gang and drew a map, acting unon which the Montana officials recovered 120,000 dollars of the Union Bank robbery. Reid drew another man and with its assistance the police dug up eighty thousand in bonds iu Stanley Park where it was buried the day after the Vancouver robbery. The renewal of Ku Klux Klan antiracial campaign Ims evidenced itself with disastrous results in the town iff Lilly, in Pennsylvania. The inhabitants of the town arc chiefly Catholics. The Klan has been attempting to erect Hunting crosses there, hut oath time the townsfolk have driven them a" ay. Then a Klan hand, in increasing numbers, descended on the town. ihc\ killed two of the inhabitants, also fatally wounding two. and seriously injuring ten others. They success!idly planted some burning crosses in the principal streets. Then the State troopers, who had received an alarm, descended upon the Klan’s orgy, and they arrested twenty-three of the Klansnien, who are being charged with riot and murder. The townspeople of Lilly attempted to stop four hundred of the Klansnien who had gathered from neighbouring towns, by turning a live hose upon them, but the Klansnien, upon their leader’s orders fired their revolvers at the townspeople, who returned theii fire desultorily. Several children who gathered to watch the combat were among the wounded, and others were also injured.

CAUSE OF SCANDALS. WASHINGTON, April 6. Senator Borah, speaking in a local church, declared that corrupt Government was partly ascriliahle to the war’s aftermath, but more immediately to the system whereby both the major political parties accepted large contributions from interests having business dealings with the Government, for campaign expenditures. Senator Borah added that he believed much good would come from the oil and other revelations, and he expressed confidence in the soundness of the American people and their system of government.
