KIWIS V. AIARISES. The above match took place on Cass Square on Saturday alternoon. 'Jlicio was a good attendance of spectators. Mr McGregor (I’resident of the Westlaud Sub-Union) kicked the ball off for Kiwis, and declared the season open. The match resulted, in a win for Ala fists |,v pi to 9. 'Hie game throughout was
of an interesting dun actor, some good individual work being put .n at times. For Manats Costello, .Moiiatt and O’Neill scored tries, one of which Alouatt converted. For Kiwis. Griffon scored one. and Steele scored two tries, none of which were converted. Air F. Lynch controlled the game.
All members of the Kivi Foothali Club lire requested, to he at the Shed for practice each evening Iron! i o’clock. The Excelsior training shed in North Bevel I St. will he available for practise from this evening at 7 o’clock.

Last evening the curtain was rung down on what lias been one of the most unfortunate and regreet‘.table episodes in the history of Canterbury sport. At the special meeting of delegates convened by the Canterbury Rugby Union, (to which the Marist Club bad declined to send representatives) the actions of the Management Committee in dealing with the ease were unanimously endorsed. It was further declared by a three to one majority, to cancel the- affiliations of the MariG (Tub to the Rugby Union. In effect this means that the Marist Club ,-eases to exist officially so far as Rugby in Canterbury is concerned. Dealing with the Murist’s statement. Air S. F. Wilson (Chairman of the Canterbury Rugby Union), "ho presided, said-. “I contend Mint the net of the Marist Club was absolutely a strike. CHRISTCHURCH, April 7. At the annual meeting of tlie Aranst Bros Old Boys Football Club, which was held on Sunday, Bishop Brodie, approved of the proposal of the Executive that the Asseiation be reorganised on the original basis as a social organisation. leaving the activities of athletics to be controlled by Committees appointed by tlie respective sport oodies. It was unanimously decided to foi two sections of athletics and apply to the Canterbury Rugby league and Canterbury Football Association (soccer) for affiliation.
