THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.

Evidently the British Government means well by us; the good intent amt sincerity arc there. Yet, when their policy is examined, it is found to be verv nebulous. There is nothing concrete in tbe proposals; everything is in the air. Lot us hope that the events of this year may each in their degree help towards a fuller recognition of the needs of the Empire as an indivisible whole. By all means let the dreamers dream. But in their preoccupation with the stars, let them not lose sight of the earth, that good earth over so mud, of which the Union Jack waves. —Svdney Paper.
