ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET

MUTTON FJRAIER. (By Telegraph —Special to Guard ana CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Messrs. H. Matson ami Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday:— Storo sheep—A very large yarding, comprising several consignments of shipped sheep, including one shipment from Poverty Bay of Romney cross ewes which stood out by themselves and sold exceptionally well. The yarding was very mixed in quality and again comprised mostly ewes. There were more lambs in than lately. Wethers were in small number, hut ■sold very well. The market was firm throughout and the sale was a good one. .Best 2 tooth Romney ewes made 41s, medium 35s to 3°s (id, 4, fi, and 8 1 tooth and x-bred owes 31s to 35s 2d, i one extra good line to 3Ss lOd, medium ’ 2Gs to 30. s fid, sound and failing decentcondition 22s Oil to 25s fid, best forward wethers 2fis Gd to 31s, medium 23s to 2Gs, 2 tooths 21s to 25s 9d; best lambs 22s to 255, medium 19s Gd to 21s fid, fair lambs lfis to -IDs fid, others down to 12s.

Store Cattle—A large entry, but as usual practically i.uly of old cows and odd lots as well as one or two small pens of steers. The sale was very dull and tlie deim-ii j weak for very fair quotable lots. 3 and -I year steers made £5 2s Gd, 2 year heifers £2 IDs, cows 15s to £2 2s.

Fat pigs.—A small yarding of both baconers and porkers. Prices for light baeoners were easier, heavy selling at late rates. Porkers, being in short supply, improved considerably on last week’s rates. Values were: Light porkers £2 Ids to £2 15s, heavy £3 to L‘3 8s Gd, average price 8d to SRI; light baeoners C 3 12s to £3 17s fid. heavy £4 to £-1 12s, extra heavy to £5 12s, average price fid to fi;jd; choppers made C2 to 5 10s. Store pigs.—A small yarding and prices improved considerably on late rates. Values were: Weanors Ils to •18s, small stores 22s to 2fis, medium 35s to 425. No" large stores . wore offering. Beef.-—A fairly large yarding, comprising of 415 head as against -195 last week. The quality generally was good and included some excellent lines of steers and not such a large proportion of old cows as usual. The market was hardly as good as last week, especially for tho heavier sorts. Prime steers made £ll to £l4, medium £8 to £lO 15s, lighter £5 to £7 10s, prime heifers £(! 10s to £8 15s. extra to £l2 2s Gd, others £4 14s to £O, prime cows £4 15s to £7 15s, extra to £l2, others £2 15s to £4 10s.

-Mutton.—The yarding was about similar to last week and again mostly of owes. The quality generally was good and the market was again firmer, showing an average all round rise in our opinion of Is to Is 6d per head. Freezing buyers were keen on any medium or light ewes and light wethers. Prime wethers made 34s to £3 8s Gd, extra to 42s 9d, medium 30s to 32s Gd, others 2fis to 20s fid, prime ewes 27s to 31s fid, extra to 37s 7<l, medium 24s to 2fis fid, others 17s fid to 23s lid. Lambs.—-A larger yarding than last week, the quality generally being better. Two or three West Coast consignments were on the market. In face of the London cables the market was somewhat easier by about Is Gd per head below last week. The overall price, in our opinion was 9;,’d to 10. Overs and .seconds were proportionately down.
