EASTER MEETING. Preparations are being well advanced for the autumn meeting of the Chib which takes place on Wednesday, April 23rd. (St. George’s Day). The Railway Department has arrange;! a special time-table covering the whole Westland, section for race day. On the south line, Ross train will depart for Hokitika at 9.30 o'clock and arrive at Hokitika at 10.2-5. It will return, leaving Hokitika in tho evening at 7.15 o'clock. On the north line there will be a very convenient service linking up all Oliva, Reelton. Blackball and Rewanui line traffic at Greymouth. The first train will depart from Greymouth at 9 a.tu. and reach Hokitika at 10.45. The second, or
“express” train will depart from Greynmuth at 10 a.m. and will stop only at Elmer Lane and Kumara Junction. This train connects with the up country trains from Reefton, Blackball. Otira and Rewanui, and will reach Hokitika at 11.15 o’clock.On the return journey Gains vil depart from Hokitika for Greymouth at 0.15 and 0.15 p.m. The first out train will he the express, and will sto] only at Kumara. Junction and Klmet Lane. At Gremouth, passengers will change over for trains to Otira, Reefton. Blackball, and Dunollie. The second outward train at 0.45 will be substituted for the ordinary 4.30 train, and will stop at all stations as required en route to Greymouth. Nominations for the Hokitika races close on Wednesday next. The pro-
gramme is a very attractive one, au;i in addition to several well endowed flat races, includes also a hurdle race and two trotting races. The various events should attract excellent fields. The course and appointments generally will he found in first-class order. Both the galloping and trolling trackaevor appeared x.o he in better trim
than at present. The sale ol rigbis in connection with the race meeting will fake place on the afternoon of (Saturday, April I2th,. at '.he usual time and place. The Municipal Band will he engage for the meeting, and arrangements are being made to conduct the refreshment room on the usual satisfactory lines. As heretofore ladies will he admitted to the course free of charge, and re turned soldiers may obtain passes troni secretaries of the R.S.A. organisation.
