April 1. Big prices were realised at Sotherby’s for rare works of early English poetry. They mostly were in pamphlets, forming a part of the Rritwell Court library, the dispetision of which began in 1911. The New Yorker, Rosenbif li who paid £9931 out of the

During the march through Wembley grounds, tho strikers met opposition in the Burma, section, but eventually forced the workers to down tools by stone throwing. Official figures of the expenditure at Wembley show that on the 29th. of February two and a halt millions have been spent, and it is estimated that another million will yet be spent. EMPIRE PAGEANT. LONDON, April 1. The Dominion representatives have submitted, a schenio for the Empire .pageant which the main Committee lias accepted. lev. A serious development is threatened in connection with the entire Rritish shipping. The Leith coal trimmers struck because the employers objected to the appointment of three foremen. When the strikers wore ready to resume the employers announced they had promised permanent employment to the men who replaced the strikers. The latter are making the matter a national one..
