LONDON, April T". There was a majority of 5000 in favour of ending the tram strike. This allows a general resumption of work on Tuesday. Meanwhile demands for advances in ot.ier unions continue to be made. Apart from tlie demand for ten shil- , lings a week for all unskilled and semi skilled male engineers, the Union of General Workers have applied to the engineering employers for all round minimum wages for women. All the building employees at tho British Empire Exhibition struck at midday. It was a sudden, unofficiall demand for an extra 2d per hour. By an agreement with the masters, it was arrangd that the men must give a fortnight’s notice of an intention of ceasing work lint, iteld by their shop stewards, the Wembley employees considered the opportunity of increasing wages would he lost unless there was an immediate strike. ATR PILOTS STRIKE. LONDON, March 31. • The long distance air services have been brought to a standstill owing to the pilots striking. SHIPPING RATES INCREASED. LONDON, April 1. The Hull ship owners have announced a general increase of seven and a half per cent on. freight rates to meet the increased pay of the dockers and additional working expenses abroad.
