STRIKE NEWS.

[Reuters Telegrams.]

LONDON TRAM LESS AND BUSLESS day tt 8 a.m.) LONDON, March 00 London remains tramless and busless over the week-end and the eariest that it will bo possible to restart, if the men accept the terms, will be Tuesday. It will then only be partial. It is understood that Saturday’s meeting of the tramwaymou’s delegates was very stormy. They wore unable to reach unanimity; hence the leaders resorted to the ballot without recommendation, the results whereof remains to be sqen.

public welcomed the postponement of the tubes strike fixed for Friday at midnight, but found the tube service much disorganised on Saturday, the reason given being that the ' men wore unaware that their sympathetic strike was off.

Londoners are deeply disappointed at the dilatory settlement. Thousands of men and women are footsore and weary, tramping city wards. Women office cleaners in the city were obliged to rise at four o’clock, breakfast and walk three or four miles to their work, later following workmen, afterwards clerks and girl typists all afoot. The newspapers are full of pictures showing the crowds like armies crossing the Thames bridges morning and evening.

The tubes have not increased the length or number of trains in order to avoid a charge of blacklegging and consequently the compartments are blocked. .Many stations are closed at intervals and crowds found it quicker to walk home than wait for trains. To-day will be the second tramless and busless Sunday, the effect whereof is that the streets are utterly deserted, everybody staying at home. THEi SETTLEMENT TERMS. [Routers Telegrams.] .'Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, March 29.

'Hie terms of the tram strike settlement are an advance of six shillings weekly lor the higher and lour shillings for the lower grade men immediately.
