An outbreak of firo occurred at 3.45 p. in. yestetday in the two-storeyed bakehouse owned by Mr P. McGillignu and situated at the corner of Thompson and Tainui Streets, Greyniouth. The damage to the building is estimated at £SO. The alarm was given by Mill. Groom, and the Fire Brigade was almost immediately on the spot. '1 he blaze was stopped after playing water inside the building for about five minutes. Sparks from the furnace, evidently caused- some dry wood placed nearby, to smoulder, gradually developing into a flame. The damage was done chiefly to some sack's of flour stored in the upper storey.
