FIGHT IN STREET.

KNIFE DRAWN IN STRUGGLE WELLINGTON, March 22. A wrestling match between two men in a street was the cause of George William Robinson and Archibald Percival Clarke, a nineteen-year-old labour:'!', •appearing al the Magistrate's Court, yesterday, before Mr E. Page. S.M., charged with using threatening behaviour. Clarke was represented by Air A. L. Treadwell, but Robinson did not appear. A carrier named Bryant was called by the police, and lie staled that he was a witness of the scuffle. He did not attempt to interfere until he saw the smaller man, Clarke, who was underneath the other, pull out- a knile from his pocket. Bryant said he thought it was time to interfere, so took the knife away from the defendant. Clarke afterwars came to him demanding the knife, Inn witness said he would hand it over to Constable Baker, who resided in the district. The defendant, in giving evidence, said he had resided with Robinson and his wile for a number ol months. Rc--eently Robinson had made allegations against, him in connection with his wife, and witness had denied it. 4be scuffle, said witness, was a result of bis trying to find out front Robinson who had started the allegations. In the matter of drawing the knife, vlli 11 ' ■ said it was one he had bought lor repairing boots. He bad drawn it. from his pocket ns it had cut bis pocket during the brawl. His "Worship said that the knife being drawn during the scuffle gave a eery sinister complexion to the affair. Clarke was fined £5 and costs, in default 21 days’ imprisonment, and Robinson was filled £1 and costs.
