(While Nurse Elsie Newton with William Gray were on the way to church at Maryborough, on Mart'll the second, when they noticed they -were followed liv a mail Henry Ealil, who later addressed Newton, lolling her he desired a few words with her. Gray stepped aside and without warning Ealil drew n revolver and fired, one shot striking Newton in the right eve and the other knocking out tliree of her teeth. She fell and Fall! then fired three shots at his own fore--I,end, only causing slight injuries. AYbh blood streaming from his face Ealil lay alongside the girl and said, "f hive von.
