ACCIDENT TO ERRAND BOY
CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION. NEW PLYMOUTH. March 21. If a errand boy delivers and receives parcels during his luncheon hour and meets with an accident while on the way back to the shop is he entitled to compensation from his employer. for an injury received during the course of his employment. This was one of the questions put to the Arbitration Court, at New Plymouth. to-day w'lieir Arthur Ronald, apprentice, aged 17 years, who was seriously injured as a result ol a collision with P. .1. Flaiiiuighaii’s motor car in Devon street, some months ago. The other question was the amount of compensation to lie awarded, the full amount of £750 allowed by the Act, being claimed. On the day of the accident, the apprentice was employed by Morey and (sons, and on his way home to lunch he had delivered two parcels and had collected another to he returned to the si mil. lie bail a parcel with him when ],e collided with the motor-ear. and as a result of the collision he "as seiionslv injured. The Court held that the injuries had been received by the hoy in the course of employment, but said that it was too soon yet to decide how far the bov would be incapacitated. The claim would be met by allowing full wages while incapacitated, and an order would lie made for the payment ol 11s 8d a week from the date of Ins accident. Future payments to be at the same rate until the case was reviewed bv the Court.
