The gratitude of the citizens of Tokio at Canada’s help subsequent to the earthquake was expressed in a letter together with an album signed by half a million persons, which was received by the Governor-General of Canada. The album will first be exhibited and then placed in the Archives of Canada.
CHESS. NEW YORK, March 23. An outstanding event at the Chess Tournament is that Reti, of Czechoslovakia, defeated Capablanea. This is the champion’s first defeat in ten years. Trkover (Austria) and Bogojubnw (Latavia) tied for first place, with three points each. Yates is sixth with one and a half points.
