MOUNT TUTOKO. WELLINGTON, March 21. Mr 8. G. Turner has’supplied an account of his final successful effort to climb Mount Tutoko on March 4. 1924. Near tlie top is a wall of rock 15 or 20 feet of which has to he negotiated with a finger grip only. At the top is a .ridge of snow, extending about three quarters of a mile. The whole of the summits forming Tutoko were traversed. The summit ridge was overlooking a. drop of between, 8000 and 0000 feet on one side, and GOOO on the other. One could almost, throw a stone down to the bottom into the Tutoko Valley. Hie photos taken should reveal one of the world’s great beauty spots. A COALING RECORD. DUNEDIN, March 22. The lI.MiS. Chatham put. up a New Zealand coaling record yesterday, this being 19(> tons in one hour with an average over 5i hours of l(>9 tons.
