[Reuters Telegrajis.] COASTAL AIR AND NAVAL PATROL. (Received this day at P. 45 a.m.) LONDON, March 21. Discussing the Air estimates Commander Burney expressed regret that they did not provide adequate assistance for commercial aviation, especially air ships. The Pacific was now the focus of naval power and a vaster area, than the Navy had ever before had control of. The cost of searching a thousand miles by airship, was 25s as compared with £77 by light cruisers. Whereas £55.000.000 was required to pay for the light cruisers, airships could be obtained for three and a half millions. BRADFORD TEXTILE INDUSTRY. LONDON. .March 21. Berrys, thn proprietors of the “Sunday Times” and the “Daily Graphic” have purchased the Hutton companies group of six Manchester newspapers. A new company will he formed which will control them. The Coy. will also acquire the goodwill and copyright of the “Sunday Times”. The transaction is expected to lead to the redemption of four million “Daily Mail” trust bonds. EMPIRE EXHIBITION. LONDON. -March 10. Tn the House of Commons, in moving the estimate for LI 18.000 expenditure on the Empire Exhibition. Air Lima stated it bad been definitely decided that the King would open the Exhibition on Sir George Day, April 23rd. With a view to capturing the imagination of visitors, the Government was embarking on the novel scheme of organising a unique pageant. British artists had been secured, including Mr Louis Parker. Sir G. Henson, and Mr Granville Barker. Mr Rudyard Kipling was responsible lor most of the libreto. Sir Edward Elgar had composed the music.
After a debate, including some seven' i riticism by Air I’iilett. the House agreed to the vote.
