IMPROVED PRICES,
The above fixture was held at the Wataroa yards on Thursday, when the annual drafts of fat and forward cattle from South Westland came forward to public competition when 170 fat and forward sheep and 437 cattle wero penned. The quality of the cattle was” a distinct improvement on those yarded at the last two sales and notwithstanding there were no outside buyers present, local graziers bid freely for all well grown and forward conditioned bullocks, and at times the bidding resembled very much that ol the high prices during the war period. Included in the yarding were four or five pens of beef which equalled the prices reentlv ruling at fat stock sales on the Coast and even at Addington. The yarding ol Messrs It. Cron and Eggeling and Sons made top prices, while a pen of twelve 10 months old Hereford steers sold by Mr M. Carroll were a feature of the day’s entries, making , the good price of £4 2s per head.
