LUXURIOUS GERMANS. " LONDON, Jan. 28. A babel of tongues was going on yesterday morning beneath a big archway in Queen-street, in tlie City of London. With snatches of French, scraps of Polish and German gutturals, the fur buyers of Europe, concentrated in London, were trying to compress ihemselves into the Queen-street salerooms for the January fur auctions. London is still the best fur market in the world. Germans were well to the fore. “At the first sale German buyers attended after the war Germany bought more furs than England did : at the second sale she bought more than England, and France; at the third sale she bought more than England, France and the United States,” said Mr Richard Revington, of Messrs Bevington and Morris. “These were all easli-beforc-delivery transactions. At the present sales Germany is buying more than England and France.” More furs are coming from Russia, principally wolf, bear, fox, and ermine. Air Bevington, who has just completed 50 years in the City, states that furs aro more popular than ever and that at the moment the biggest demand is for fox furs—every breed of fox from every country.
