, LABOUR ADDRESS, s CHRISTCHURCH, March 19. . Mr Dan Sullivan, ALP., addressed . his constituents to-niglit. Among . those on the platform was Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., who was making his first public appearance after liis recent , very serious illness. Mr Sullivan said there was a possibility of Labour being on the Treasury benches in New Zealand after the next election. The Government were losing a good deal of sleep on account of the growth of Labour, and Mr Massey was now referring to their party as the Socialists. Mr Sullivan received a vote of .thanks and confidence. NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION. WELLINGTON, March 19 The Management Committee of tho New Zealand Rugby Union met tonight, Air S. S. Dean presiding. It was agreed to increase, from £3OO to 0800 the loan granted the Poverty Bay Union. The money is required for a ground and stand. Poverty Bay has challenged Hawke’s Bay tor the Ranfurly Shield. The King Country Union advised that it had nominated Mr Frank Glasgow for a position on the Selection Committee. Under the District scheme for trying out the All Black team, it was decided to offer Wanganui the match between Wellington, Wuirarupa, Bush and Jlorowhenua v. Taranaki, Wanganui, King Country and Matiawatu, formerly set down to he played at Wellington on May 17. It was resolved not to send a trainer with the All Black touring team. SUPREME COURT. GISBORNE, March 20. At the Supreme Court, Lawrence Herbert George 'Williams for sending a false telegram was ordered to come up I for sentence when called upon within two years. -Maurice Kurauria for forgery and , uttering, is to receive two years reformative detention.
