(J.S.A. SOLD LEU BONUS. WASHINGTON, Macrli IS. The House of .Representatives overwhelmingvl passed the long mooted Soldier Bonus Bill, providing paid-up twenty year endowment insurance for all veterans save those who in the servi.se hail earned 50 dollars or less, and who will receive a cash maximum insurance. However, it has not to exceed 2000 dollars per veteran. it is computed that the Bill involves a Government expenditure in excess of 2000,000,000, dollars, whereof, 135 million dollars would be expended during the first year. The Bill now goes to the Senate, where it laees a stormy reception, although it is believed it will, with some modifications, be passed. Tiie bonus has hen strenuously opposed by Presidents Harding and Coolidge. The former vetoed it in 1922, whereupon the House passed it, over the veto, but tho Senate failed to act thereon. Official circles believe that President Coclidge will promptly veto the Bill, in accordance with his earlier attitude, but the bonus advocates avowedly intend to either win President C’oolidge’s approval or muster sufficient votes in Congress to assure the passage of the Bill over the veto.
GREEK STRIFE. BUCHAREST, March 18. The King of Greece has rejected the Republican Government’s offer to accept voluntary abdication, retaining the royal title and receiving four-fifths of the present financial allowances.
