The projro-al to erect a woollen mill at Mataura was considered by a large and eutbu-iastie meeting there last night. 11 was resolved that'the meeting heartily approve of the plans to form a company f ir that purpose. An effort will he made immediately to float the Coy. MINERS' FEDERATION BALANCE SHEET. WELLINGTON. March 19. _ A balance sheet lias been prepared by /the New Zealand miners’ Federation regarding the funds forwarded through the Federation to the Most Coast for the relief of miner.-' dependents during tlie recent coal trouble. It shows that a total of £8.991 19s lOd was raised, of which £7044 0s Hid was subscribed by miners an Australia and £1255 11s was raised by the New Zealand Alliance of Labour, CO. <» ■*« b> members of various unions and hli I* individual subscribers. Of this Amount £8940 14s 4d was paid to the Mestpor Miners’ District Council and Cl 4s 8« was spent in cables and telegrams to Australia and to the West Coast Council. There is a balance in the bank of £44 vis lOd. THE HAILWAY TROUBLE. AGREEMENT REACHED. WELLINGTON, March 19 It is understood that as"a result of the conference between the Minister for Railways and the executive of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants. agreements have been come to between the parties for the setting up of a Wages Board to which matters m dispute will be submitted.
