The Central Dairy Factory-at Hokitika will" be running all the year round. The supply of cream continues to lie well maintained, which is evidence of the ample pasture all through the district. Suppliers are sending cream to the factory now from all quarters. For the northern mu to the Teremakau district, the Factory has
its own motor truck running and collecting cream. The completion ol the office section of {ho building is now well forward, also the extension of the cool storage for which space is in demand. The quality of : lie ho l ter manufactured eoiiiinues excellent.

The Reefton “Times” states:— Through the collapse of the cupboard containing the drugs, etc., used at the District High School on Alonday, a receptacle containing phosphorus exploded and burst into flames. An alarm was quickly given, but- the services of the Fire Brigade—who were quickly on the scene —wen - fortunately, not required. The accident destroyed a new pair of scales recently purchased, and the whole o! the drugs etc., in the cupboard. Ihe room did not take lire, hut the phosphorus went into the ground below the flooring, and portion of the latter had to ho removed to enable the chemical to he got at. A squad of hoys were told off to look after this. In addition to the destruction of drugs and scales, valued at about £l2, some of the hoys had their clothes destroyed through the acids spilling upon them.
The adjourned general meeting o tlie Hokitika Branch of the Returnoi Soldiers’ Association will ho hold a the Soldiers’ Hall at 8 o’clock ot Wednesday evening to elect officer and committee, and transact a quail titv of general business. A full at tendance of all returned men is in vited.—Advt.
A general meeting of the R.S.A. Minstrels was held in the R.S.A. Hall on Alonday evening. There was a good attendance of members and Air L. Aldridge occupied the chair. The Secretary read the statement of accounts which showed a credit balance of £6 9s 9d. This was adopted. The matter of holding entertainments in aid of thp R.S.A. Building Fund was considered. A’arious suggestions were made including the holding of dramatic, revue and other musical outers tainments. It was decided to hold a general meeting of all ladies and gentlemen who have the interest of the R.S.A. at heart, next Tuesday evening in tlio R.S.A. Hall at 8 o’clock to further consider the matter of entertainments.
