SHAM FURS. LONDON, Jan. 11. Because so many sham furs have been finding their way on to the market. ILo London Fur Trade Association ha.-: just compiled a standard list of “incorrect and approved descriptions of furs” for the protection of the public. Judging from the incorrect descriptions quoted, many a woman who prides herself on the posession of a beautiful “blue fox” may be cherishing the fur of half a dozen bumble rabbits. Moreover, it appears that the dyed coat of a goat is sometimes sold as “blue wolf,” “skunk,” “monkey,” or even “white hear.” Here are a few more of the revelations : Rabbit fur is disguised as: Electric beaver, chinchilla, seal, black fox. sable, mink, and squirrel. Hare as: White fox. sable, seal, beaver, nutria, and chinchilla,. Tibet lamb ns Iceland fox. Kangaroo as: Fox. skunk, marten, and sable. American--opossuin as: Fitch, sable, skunk and stone marten. Dog as: Skunk, fox. and wolf. Cat, sheared and dyed, becomes seal, and the squirrel is passed off as mink, sable, and sabeline.
