SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP. WON 15V H. A. THOMPSON. The filial of the singles championship of the Hokitika Bowling Club was phi veil yesterday evening between Messrs 11. A. Thompson and .J. Bain, | the winners of their respective sections, victory resting with Mr Thompson after a well contested game. Ihe green was in good order, but a heavy wind was blowing. The play was closely watched by a number of members, and the game was well contested, each player putting in good shots. At the end of seven heads the .score was Thompson 0. Bain 1: at the 14th head the scire was II all. With one head to
jr , Thompson had a lead of 2 and then wiili two howls to go. 15ain lay a shot close to kitty, with another a. h" inches away, Thompson having a good second. Bain with his last shot endeavoured to push his opponent's shot through, but. missed and lay one. the game ending in a win for Thompson by one point.
