Charged with the theft of £-152 I2s 9*l front the Northern Steamship Coy, Austin McCormick, aged *2B, appeared at tiie Police Court to-day. Accused was li e company's agent at Te Aruba, and sjme July last, eight amounts had been misappropriated. First, the amount was taken to pay a small debt, and in tin effort to recoup, the accused betted iceklossly. He pleaded guilty, and was committed for sentence, lhe hail being £IOO. EGG INDUSTRY. It is rumoured that the galloper now being inquired about in connection with an alleged ringing-in is Cashmere, winner at Dunedin of the llaziett Memorial Stakes, 1921. A SUSPICIOUS FIRE. NELSON, March 7. In a back room sucks saturated with kerosene weie found hanging, while kerosene was also distributed in the other rooms. TIMARC WOOL SALES. TIM ARC. March 7. The final wool sale ol the season was held this morning. The catalogue was a small one and comprised mostly mixed lots. Altogether 1788 bales were offered. There was a good bench of buyers and although they weie slow at times in starting, bidding was fnirlv brisk and all lots sold well. Only two or three lots were passed in. For good wool prices were a little easier as compared with the previous sale. Bidding for merino was very keen at times, and the highest price was 51 id as compared with 32'd. the second sale. The highest price for half-bred (29d) was obtained by a Gleitlvon lot (three bales). At'the second sale half-bred reached 091 ,i Only a few cross-bred lots "etc offered, and they were eagerly sought, after. The highest price was 21R1 as against 22id at the previous sale. Three-qtmrter bred brought 23-5(1 as compared with 241(1. Prices sold very well the- second sale’s highest prices being reached in the case of merino and half-bred, and exceeded by ?,d in the ease of crossbreds.
