ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. A LARGE YARDING. (By Telegraph.—Special to Cuardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Adlirgton yards, yesterday: Store sheep.—A very large yarding, mostly ewes, including many North Island consignments. Not nearly so many lambs were yarded. Ihe light rain we had on Tuesday evidently had a firming efleet on the market and the sale throughout was a good one. All good fresh conditioned ewes were in keen demand, also good land:;. Lest two-tooth ewes made to 355. one extra good line of local two-tooth halt-hied owes on being passed at -IDs, were subsequently sold at Id'-. These same ewes made 4!)s last year. Lest s.m. owes 27s (Id to 325, lower conditioned ditto 23s (Id to 275. older ewes 18s to j;is, inferior and travelled stained Ms fid to 17s Cd. Lambs, best, 21s to ■j;j s sd. medium Ids (id to 20s lid. others j 2s (id to lr.s l>d. Not many wethers were yarded. One good line from the .Sounds made. 2-ls to 25 s id. others ISs to 235.
Store cattle.- A large yarding, and as usual, the quality was very indifferent. and with the exception of one decent line of I and 5-yr. cal tie the eutrv was mainly of odd lots. The demand for weaners was slack, also for small stores, medium am! large selling at late rates. A very huge yarding, which included some excellent consignments of North Island bullock*, as well ns several real good lines of local .station cattle, in the fact of the very heavy yarding, the market opened somewhat easier, although any good quality sorts showed little, if any, differ dice. Cows more decidedly easier, and hard to sell. Mutton.- A larger yarding and again mostly of ewes of very indifferent quality. Very few decent: lines ot eithei ernes or wethers were parded. The sale all round, especially for light ami inferior ewes and unfinished wethers, was decidedly easier, being quoted Is to Is (id below last week. Vree/.mg Ini vers were not nearly so keen , perhaps. owing to the very keavy killings at the various works. This mav he accounted for by the general inferior quality, ami the very large killings ni the various works, farmers rushing in anything fit to kill. The overall price was about |i>'|d.
