James (Wellington) has been chosen as wicket keeper in place of Boon (Canterbury) for New Zealand in the second test team. Steady rain set in to-day, but a clearance to-morrow should leave the wicket in good condition for the start of the match on Friday. M.R MACARTNEY’S VIEWS. rLEASED WITH DACRE. Macartney, captain of the New South Wales team, said he was agreeably surprised with the showing of the New Zealanders, especially in the second innings. The whole New South Wales team were very pleased with Raero’s exhibition. Da ere had bad a certain amount of luck, but it was only right that the luck should go to a player of that type. Boon’s wicket-keeping had been very creditable. The New Zealand howlers had done very well and their fielding was very creditable indeed considering the stale of the outfield. Air .Macartney said he felt very sory for Collins, the New Zealand captain, who had more than bis fair share of bad lack in tbe match. Continuing, lie said the Non Zealand team 'had played the game fairly and squarely and in a fine sporting spirit, and furthermore they seemed to appreciate everything that was done by tlio New South AVales team. Speaking with reference to the wicket foi~ the lest match Afr Macartney said (hat considering the time he had at his disposal and the climatic conditions he thought the eaietakoi at Lancaster Park had provided a very satisfactory wicket.
