T. .lack, applying for use of school anil technical school during Faster for the purpose ol holding a. camp for Bible class girls.— Rc-cc-ived: Air l.lovd moved the ref|iiest l,e granted subject to approval of the Kdneutioo Board. Air Shannon was oppo-ed to the school being used for any 'other purpose by the scholars. lie did not see how the school could he made healthy again alter being used as an hostel. .Mr Wells seconded the motion. The Chairman suggested that permission for lho use of the technical school he recommended.

The Hector said he was of opinion it would not he advisable to grant the use. of the main building. .Mr Shannon mover that no action he taken. Seconded by .Mr Preston and carried. Ayes—Chairman. .Messrs Preston and Shannon; noes—Messrs l.lovd, Stevenson and. Wells. The Chairman gave his easting vote for the amendment, and becoming the motion was agreed to. on the same voting. It was further resolved that the Committee, while opposed to the use of the main school, they had no objection to application being made to the education Department i s grant the use of the Tribunal School for cooking purposes. From Fdileal ion Hoard, drawing attention to the number of tires in schools and asking that every care and attention lie given to prevent any possible danger by fire.—Received. From same notifying that a teacher (Miss (i. Forsyth) had been appointed to Hokitika school, in place of a pupil teacher.— Received. From same stating that authority for repairs to the caretakers’ residence up to £GO had been authorised. Received.

From Teacher. South Spit, reporting the roll number was 24, and average attendance 21.7; notifying some small requirements.— Received. From Rec tor (Mr T. Irvine) reporting the roll number was primary 377. secondary 77. total -13-1 and average attendance, primary 311.7. secondary 7-7, total 116.7; stating the increased

attendance was causing some inconvenience and any further increase, ii attendance would neessitate the pro

vision of improved desks; that application had been received from the Hospital Board for admission of seven probationary nurses to the cookery classes and stating he had referred the maLtcr to Mr Hutton, the director ol the Technical School at Oreymmith. who is in charge : that leave of absence had been applied for bv Miss Wallace, owing to her suffering from rheumatism: that consideration be given to the services of Aliss Aitken in cmiiiertif)ii with the teaching in the secondary school during the absence of Miss Moyne from .lone last; in connection with Easter holidays suggesting that if the school close from flood Friday to the following Thursday, that tinusual term holidays be held, or if the usual Easter holidays be held the term holidays be postponed till May Bth.; that Miss Bogle was at present on duty at Harihari and Inter would be at Ross, so that it would lie some time before she returned to the clinic at Hokitika; that the Board's carpenters had b-oen at the school carrying out

sonie necessary repairs.— Received. The recommendations of the Rector were approved, ft; was resolved to make application to the High School Board for consideration of Miss Aiticon’s special services, on the motion of Messrs Wells and Shannon. Messrs Preston and Lloyd voting against.

It was resolved that the school close for a week at Easter and the term holidays commence on May Bth. The Visiting Committee (Mr Stevenson) reported Ine fences reqnirco considerable attention: that some eravel was required and the large stones on the surface removed.—Received and approved. Messrs Muekny and Richards were appointed visitors. Accounts as recommended hy the 3eeretarv were passed for payment. The Committee rose at 6.30 p.m.
