Wm.i.nvoToN’x next wool sale will he hebl on March 13 (says tile ‘•Dominion’’), and in the opinion of the brokers, »,ii offering of about 12.060 bales will be all that is likely to he available. Growers have sent in every hag auo hale of wool that could possihy he got together, and more lambs have lire.: shorn this year than ever before. There was an unusually large quantity of lambs’ wool offered at the last Wellington wool sale. The four sales for the current season, show an increase of 21.730 lines, equal to 5)0.30 per cent. This shows the growing popularity of tie local wool sales. There has been M,.fh a, tremendous clearing up of wool that it is believed that when the wool yeni closes on Juno 30, there will not be a bate of wool obtainable in New Zealand, except perhaps a little held by iellmotigers The number of buyers attending the sales this season was greater than ever, and it- is not generally known that during the current month’s sales wool was being bought for Indian mills. It seems that a Melbourne house acting as agents for ti.e Indian operators, sent a buyer over to New Zealand, who secured lair quantities of hollies and pieces, erim-li-ings and locks, at the Wellington, Napier, Wanganui and Christchurch sales. The wool was bought in the name of a .southern firm, and it- was not- until brokers received their shipping instructions that they knew that the wool had been purchased for India. This is the first time in the history of Now Zealand’s wool trade that wool has been bought- for shipment to India. This goes to show the widespread of textile machinery, .which is causing more buyers to look for the raw' material.
