ALLEGED BURGLARY.
AX .ARREST MADE. It will he remembered that on Jan. 12lh lasi it was reported that the shop ol -Mr Peter Stephens, hairdresser and tobacconist, Bcvcll Street, had been broken into, and a quantity r;f goods stolen. The police have since been enquiring into the matter and yesterday afternoon a young man, Richard Arthur Nash, an Australian, aged 21 years, who lias been in this district for some months engaged in sawmilling work at Kokatahi. was arrested in connection with the matter. This flilorning at the Magistrates Court before Mr A. E. Benjamin, 9.P., Nash was charged that on or about l*2th .Inmmiv. he did break and enter the shop of Peter Stephens and steal therefrom a number of articles mentioned including jewellery, watches, shirt-, collar-. iountain pens, and cigarettes, "i a value of £lO6. an indictable offence.
