THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
Tub Evii, or the Doi.k System. in Germany, when men are laid off in factories they go to the Government ami get doles, and in many cases peddle food etc. The people to whom T spoke m Germany naturally appreciate the |;,ct that the dele in the present time an.cunts to little or nothing, but they also appreciate that when the* dole was first paid out, it was considerable, and was a contiUnitary cause to the dottnf -.I! of the mark. It is also appreciated in Europe, that if a workman in Germany had been allow'd!, no. even forced to work ten hours a day. the reparation payments to France would have hem larger, and perhaps large enough to avoid Franco taking over the industries in the Ruhr.
AVnut people in Europe want is that the Government would interfere less with the economic law. American Visitor to Europe.
