BOY SCOUTS.

Tlie Chief Scout’s birthday last Friday was eeleltrated by the 2nd. troop at a camp fire on the south side of the liver, and after listening to yarns about “BP’ts” adventurous career, and being asked to look up their "ork for tlie movement as a persona! bitihcltiy gift to the Chief, an attempt was made to produce three cheers "huh tumid reach him in England without the aid of wireless.

The result was eminently .satisfactory, and of the troop’s present membership only two boys remain who have not slept in camp, and one ol these is a new recruit of only a week’s standing. Although Saturday night was wot and stormy, everyone spent a comfortable night, and it has been decided to follow the example of the Ist troop and leave the tents standing for the benefit of those scouts who live in Ihe vicinity.
It has been decided to attempt an open-air display and sports’ day during Easier week to which the public will be admitted by ticket as onlookers. As there is a great deal of preparation in sight, the scooters will he grateful lot anyone who can volunteer to take charge of the rehearsing of one t or more items for this. Anyone interested should attend the Si-outers’ mooting 9.0-10.0 p.in. on Wednesday. All scouts of both troops who are without religious engagements on Sunday evening, are asked to attend a mooting which will he held this Sunday' at the scout: room at 7.0 p.m. It is hoped to start a regular series of meVtings and the better the attendance at the first the more ideas should become available for making the series satisfactory to all. As this will be at present the only regular opportunity for the two troops to meet on common ground, it is hoped that all will take this as official notice that: they can attend and that the meeting has the definite approval of Scoutmasters of both troops. The rooms will lie opened about 0.80 p.m. The Second Troop are still short of their desired strength, and in the event of lour or live friends of suitable age applying for admission together will he prepared to post them all into one patrol. Any "gangs” oi cobbers who should read this are to note that the offer will probably only remain open for a few days. Apply on Thursday or Tuesday evening next door to the Swimming Baths.
