The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated February 32rd. from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— DAIRY PRODUCE. 11l consequence of the dock .strike the available stocks of butter and cheese arc practically exhausted. Business is at a standstill and prices nominal. Business has been done in butter up to 212 s per ewt. Position weak. No offieial quotations except for English cheese, which is scarce. Butter —No official quotations. Cheese. English (finest? farmers): 112 s to MGs per ewt. (Is ll.id to Is 3:|d per lb). Other varieties of cheese not quoted. The s.s. Mahia with a shipment of New Zealand produce is due to-day, and the s.s. Middlesex to-morrow. CASEIN. Nominal quotations are :—French rennet Lfi-3 to £BS per ton ; Argentine lactic. £-lii io £SO per ton. lIEMP. The Manila market is active with good demand and business fairly large. “J,” grade sold alloat and FehrttaryApril shipments £37 10s to £3B 10s, and values. New Zealand market quiet. Sales of fair grade for early shipment are reported at £34 10s. Quotations are:—Highpoints £3O 10s and fair £3l 10s. WOOL. Bradford reports that, values are as vet not affected by the strike although buyers were more reserved. Present quotations for tops: Oils (merino), 5s 10s, oil's (super half-breed) 3s Hid. 40’s prepared (coarse cross-bred) 2s Id. FRUIT. On account of the strike there are no quotations for apples.
