NEW YORK. Feb. 25 The U.S.A. immigration figures for the last six months, show that 505,567 people were admitted. Of these, 1-19, 501) were Britishers; 97,566 were Germans ; and 19,777 were Italians. There were 331,116 females, while 206,421 were women and children classed as without occupation. There were 201,316 unskilled labour<>rs, 129,015 skilled labourer?. and 18,736 professionals FAKE DOCTORS. DISCLOSURES IN U.S.A. NEW YORK, Eeh. 24. Investigations of the medical frauds (cabled on February 14) are continuing. They have disclosed three cases where men were using tho licenses of dead or retired physicians to practice medicine, while thirteen men and women were openly practicing surgery and medicine, although they never spent one day in studying these
sciences. Disclosures, meanwhile, made, are showing untrained individuals have been giving X-Ray treatment for the cure of disease with apparatus of such a character that serious burns have resulted. A considerable munlior of chemists have also been found to be practising medicine. Charges are further made that quacks have been acting as conscious disseminators of contagious diseases, since they are afraid to report to the Health Authorities as required by law, and most of the time have been unaware of the nature of (he diseases they have been treating. The authorities have enlisted tlio recognised Medical Societies in a campaign against fake medicos.
