BRITISH & INTERCOLONIAL EXHIBITION.
EXECUTIVE MEETING. A meeting was held at the County Chambers at 7.30 o’clock las! evening. Present: —Messrs W. .1. Butler (in the chair), W. Jeffries, It. Wild, It. F. Perliam. P. Kenton, W. Wilson, A. Aitkon, C. ts. Dalgleisli, and lion 11. L. Michel.
The minutes of tile previous meeting were confirmed, and the outward correspondence approved. Correspondence in respect to the return of exhibits was read. Several of the millers who supplied material for the timber exhibit, offered no objection to the iimbor being stored and retained a nucleus for a Westland timber exhibit at the forthcoming Dunedin Exhibition. The matter of storing and earing for the exhibits was refered to Mr Perham to attend to. A. J. White Ltd., Christchurch, wrote in respect to the purchase of material, and it was resolved to await further information. The Secretary of the Wellington Industrial Association wrote in regard to space occupied by provincial exhibits, and the Secretary was directed
to supply. The Secretary of the Cycling Club submitted a statement of the sports’ meeting held on the 9th. ult. and asked for financial assistance with regard to the deficiency. Consideration was deferred.
L. Aldridge reported some injury to pia io hired for the Exhibition, and the Secretary was instructed to inspect
and report. | A claim was received from D. Dowell in respect to rain damage to goods, and it was resolved the Secretary ask for further particulars. ACCOUNTS. The Treasurer submitted a statement showing cash receipts to date to be £5,G74, and the payments £(5643. A statement of cash assets in sight for sales of iron, bedding, effects etc., was submitted also, and a general review of the finances made. It was indicated that it was not likely there would be any call on the guarantors. The meeting expressed satisfaction with the financial prospects, which of course are still governed by the results attending the realisation of goods which are for sale, still to considerable value. Mr Renton reported that practically all ihe iron was now sold, ant! the result would be satisfactory under the circumstances. Mr Jeffries reported in respect to the auction sale which would yield a fair return. It was decided to proceed with the demolition of the. buildings as rapidly as possible, and hold a further sale of timber etc. in about a fortnight’s time. It was decided to forward a quantity of Ivedding to Greymouth for sale also at a suitable date.
The Secretary reported in regard to the return of exhibits etc., as also the bedding which was coining forward in satisfactory order and condition. A list of accounts for payment was submitted, and these wore gone through carefully in detail. Ultimately accounts to the amount of £669 Is 7d were passed for payment. Three accounts were referred back for correction, and others held over for enquiry. The meeting rose at 9.30 o’clock.
