The A. grade test selection, “The plying Dutchman,” was played this evening. The general standard tv a < verv high, and seine splendid performances were heard. The outstanding performance, however, was that of the Woolston Bam!, which will probably rank ns one of the finest hands beard in the Dominion. There will probably be some difficulty in. finding the place* below the Woolston Band, as several of the other bands played very evenly; of these, however, the performances which seemed to please most, were Hie 'Wellington I ram ways. Ashburton and St Jv.ili.la bands, ft- was a wonderful night’s music. The following bauds competed:—Ft. Canterbury Minitcd Rifles (Ashburton), Port Nicholson Silver Bam! (Wellington). Invercargill Hibernian, St Tvilda. Woolston. fnverenvgill Battalion and Wellington Municipal Tramways. The points allotted to-night wore placed under seal, and are not to be announced till the conclusion ot the second test very late on Friday night. The final of the B. grade competition will be played to-morrow night.
