MENTAL HOSPITAL PICNIC
hi moist communities im innovation of a deserving nature will receive usually zealous attention whilst the cause is new. but after the first flush. i~, kit more and more to its own derices. The people of the Hokitika district hare again shown that their generosity is not of the "flash in the pan’’ character, and for the third year in succession have enabled the patients of the Mental Hospital to enjoy a thoroughly successful outing. There were no donations from any outside district, so that, taking into consideration the many ealls upon the eoltectivo purso nl the little eoinnninity, such entertainment as that set before the patients at Mrs Graham's fields at Kokatahi on Monday was very creditable indeed. The plentiful "good things’’ and the sports were enjoyed with a zest unknown to those of us who have the freedom to indulge when we will, and not the least pleasant part of the day was the ride to Kokatahi in three large motor lorries provided Ivy -Messrs Orr Bros at a much reduced cost.
