BRISBANE, February HI. A Kanaka, known locally as “'Mad Jack” appeared at the home of Airs Dew and two sons in I’ialba who were entertaining visitors. Jack fired a double-barrelled shot gun through an open door narrowly missing a visitor. Me then fired two more shots through a window, injuring Airs Dow with splin-ti-ted glass. One of her sons escaped from the house and informed the police, who after a chase captured the Kanaka. The prisoner is regarded as moult liv deficient.
