At the Rand contest there was a large attendance this afternoon for the A and I! grade quick-tep competition, throe Baud- entering for the former, and live for the latter. The Bands turned our very smartly, and the display was the most effective. Subsequently the massed Rands played the A grade selection. The winning Wanganui Band scored ,in it- niu-ie, it- point.- ior marching being lower than those awarded the other fw». Qui'k-iep Competition. A Grade -Son- of the Wild" Queen Alexandra Land. The points scored by each Band tor military drill and music are as follows: Queen Alexandra. 132, S 3: Auckland Artillery LSI and 79: Palmerston X., 1313 and ,3. B Grade. Also competed: Marton Municipal Band (2243) Retone Central Band (2031). The evening results were: Hymn Test (own selection).—Queen Alexandra’s Own. Wanganui {So) 1. Whangarei Municipal Silver Band (84) 2, Auckland Artillery (82) 3. Also competed : Palmerston X. Municipal 1 78). l’etone Central (75). Feilding Brass and Marton Municipal (73) and Sixth ITauraki Regimental (71). The judge said that there was no bad playing in this section.
