FAREWELL SOCIAL.

At the conclusion of the Rev Air Berry’s service in ihe Humphrey’s School on Wednesday night a little social was arranged to bid farewell to tho Rev. gentleman, as he is shortly to take his departure for tho British Isles for at least two years. A large congregation was present, representatives being there from Arahura and upwards The following items were rendered, and much appreciated by those present :—"Faces We Never Forget." by .Mrs; llareourt ; ‘‘Springtime" by Air Berry and a duet "Fading Away" by the same two soloists. A dainty supper of seasonable delectable* was served at the conclusion of which Air Ditely, on behalf of the congregation, pre-outed Air Berry with a substantial cheque as a slight token of the esteem and regard in which he is held in the district. Air Ditely mentioned the I act of Air Berry’s broadminded views and though a minister, he was always ready to have a joke with the best of them. Mr Berry had always been in the habit of making visits to the homes of his flock, after which all seemed the Letter for that visit. Air Ditely wished Alt' Berry a pleasant s,.jnnrn on his return should he happen to traverse this locality.
AH' Berry then thanked the congregation for the gilt and lor the good wishes extended to him. Everyone had been very kind and gracious to him since working in ibis parish and he felt sad at parting with ihe friends ho had made. Air Berry said he had made no secret of tin- Fact that of all the parishes lie had laboured in he had liked the AVest Coast best, and considered it the flutter of New Zealand. However, the host of friends must part. He trusted to return in tho future to renew old acquaintances. The singing nl “Atild Lang S\uo, and the Nation.d Anthem brought the proceedings to a dose.
