ANTI-SWEARING LEAGUE.

An .Anti-Blasphemous and AutiSwearing League has long existed in Italy, and since the end of the war it has increased its activities a hundredfold owing to the spread of lau! language caused by trench life. Now. to mark the work already accomplished and that still to he* undertaken, the League is collecting iunds for the erection of a monument to the Madonna in one of the big squares of .Milan. .Meetings are held ad over the country. particularly in Tuscany, whore swearing was very deep-rooted. The other day in Ferrara several senators and deputies spoke at such a gathering, and then thousands of children from the local Government schools sang the Anti-Tslasphomou> he mu. The movement has had the strong approval and support of the Mussolini Government, and very effective propaganda has been made Ly the 1 nscistf, the Faseista section of Prata di Povdenonc recently passing unanimously the following resolution:— “All the Faseisti of this section who offend God or the Sacred Objects by the constant use of swearing or blasphemous phrases will he punished with a fine of 5 lire (1.0-
