C. Koch, District Engineer, Auckland; J. Dover. District Traffic .Manager, Wellington; W. 11.I 1 . AYiiliaius. General Inspector; G. McCartney. Officer in Charge, Advertising branch; T. Faris, Controller Refreshment branch; A. W r . Morgan, District Traffic Alanager, Invercargill; and J. Young, District Traffic Manager, Wanganui. Other appointments announced are: First Traffic Manager, Auckland, Mr A W. A!ouat (Wellington); Chief Engineer. Air F. C. AVildop; Inspecting Engineers. Messrs W. R. Davidson and >r R 8. Kent. District Engineers’-: AVlia iigarei, AY. R. B. Bngge; Greymouth. P. H. Alorey; Invercargill, i -SJoint McNair; Ohakune, A. S. AVansborouirh; Wanganui, J- Bertinshaw; At.c..h:nd. J. K. Lowe. It has been doeided, as a general policy, that all members of the Railway Department shall retire as they become eligible and that exemptions will only he allowed in very exceptional eases where it would not he in the public interest to rigidly enforce the rule EXECUTIVE POSITION REORGANISED. WELLINGTON, February S. It is announced that the following officers retired on superannuation from tl-o Hailwav Department, on January 31st. E. AY. McLean, Chief Engineer; H Barton, Traffic Alanager; R. Aikins, Chief Clerk, Engineer’s Office. .Many other applications have been received for retirement on March 31st. The opportunity is being taken to reorganise some ol the executive positions. The chief and assist- traffic Alanager will he abolished and a second assistant manager appointed, the object filing to bring the bead office into more intimate touch with the traffic branch. A first assistant manager will be in charge of transportation. including commercial agents. 4he second assistant will deal with the staff and tariffs ami under this scheme, positions have been filled as follows: First- Assistant, J. Mason, formerly commercial agent foi the North Island; second assistant, II H. .Sterling: Superintendent of Transportation, A. K. Harris. Auckland.
