Mr F. .T. Board, who, since his retirement from the position of printer of “The .Press,” has been visiting various parts of the Dominion, has decided to settle in the North Island. He has forwarded his resignation to the executive of the Canterbury Progress League as the Westland delegate. His resignation was received, and it w.ts decided to convey to Mr Board tho executive’s appreciation of bis services to Hie League, particularly in connexion with We?t Coast railway matteis.
A golden wedding was celebrated yesterday at Greymouth, when Mr and Mrs S. Cook, of Thompson Street, received many congratulations upon completing f.O years of married life. They were married at St. Mary’s Church, Hammersmith Road. London, on February 7, 187-1, and came to New Zealand about 40 years ago. They resided on the Coast for 30 years. Mr Cook was one of the staff brought to Now Zealand bv the Midland Railway Company. Later lit was a surfaceman and ganger on the line between Brunner and Stillwater for many years and then settled at Greymouth.

The programme submitted was a very attractive one, Tho instrumental numbers, included the bells, glassophone and otlters, each of n specially attractive nature. Mdllc. le Manhunt in her sciigs fairly captivated the audience. Of splendid tone and range, her several numbers were gems of a very high class and were thoroughly appreciated on every appearance. MAs A. Reynold r in her monologues was also successful, while Mr Harry Baxter) an old favorite, fairly brought down the house on every appearance, his patter being ) articiilarly bright, clever and amusing. ’I ho Lynch Family in their musical numbers won hearty applause, a beautiful tone being obtained and tlieii performance was very finished. Altogether the Company gave a venal tractive programme and they leave the most favorable impressions behind them again, as of yore.
