They saw between 70 and 80 hlaelciish heading for the hay. Alxml a do/.eu in the lead became piled up on the rocks in a small cave and the remainder after manoeuvring in shallow water, turned seawards, but for some unknown reason they turned and headed book t" the hind, making for a small opening where a stream meets the sea. They crashed into the rocks, following one another like sheep, and lashing toe water into foam in their efforts to escape. Some oi the h>h measuicd —lt. A number were dispatched with knives by the visitors io the scene. The question of disposing of the carcases is causing concern in the neighbourhood.
