Some amusing incidents are reported by the employees ol the Kaitauga County Council who are at present en,raced'in taking a tally of traffic oil the main roads about Palmerston North. One relates bow a motorcyclist, with a young billy pillion riding on his machine, apparently Seared a by-law prosecution when lie approached the county official, ami the passenger luirriedlv held her coat over the rear number plate until the machine was well away. Moror-ear drivers, wondering at the attention paid to their mi in her plates, stop to inquire what misdemeanour they have been gt.iltx of. It is stated that the tally so fatreveals a wonderfully large proportion of cyclists, even though the points under observation are well out of the urban area.
